ART 212:Teaching in the Digital Art Studio
DIGITAL STUDIO MINI PORTFOLIO
1D: understands properties of two- and three-dimensional space and of the fourth dimension, time.2D: collaborates with other arts specialists in developing inter-related artworks.
Description: The images and video included below represent the assignments tasked as explorations in digital artmaking.
Rationale: Since the mid-1970s the world of digital art has been expanding exponentially, and it is becoming a high demand skill required for the contemporary job market in graphic arts. Through the use of popular tools used to create digital art we become familiar with the technology and are better able to teach students how to use the same or similar tools.
Evidence:

This project was an exercise in PDF creation. I created the file using Microsoft Word then printed as a PDF. The recipe was intended to be an icebreaker/introduction of ourselves to our class.

Along with the recipe, we were asked to demostrate compositional awareness through digital photography by taking three different images of the recipe's final product.

This slide deck shows the digital art I created in class.

This is a stop motion animation I created in class.

Description: The lesson plan attached below is my version of a popular technique of playing with photography that is older than most think - light painting.
Rationale: Photography in the digital age has become so embedded in our social lives that "magic" of capturing an image is almost completely taken for granted. I feel that light painting brings back some of that magic while teaching about the technical side of how a camera - analog or digital - captures an image. This plan also introduces students to thinking about artmaking on a conceptual level.
